Just Before

JUST BEFORE

If, in the Great Depravity,
The terrible power of gravity
Were suddenly turned right on its head
And we were marked-out to be dead.....
If the moon, now hovering there,
Leaving Space between us..... enough to spare....
Were suddenly drawn to Mother Earth,
Which some believe gave the moon its birth.....
And it came rolling through the sky
Toward us, who were marked to die.....
If, as nightly, it grew and grew,
While we stood helpless, although we knew
The end was nigh.....there would be a time,
Quite impossibly sublime,
When, filling all eternity,
The moon would be as plain to see
As ones own face, a glorious sight...
Before the crash....and the endless night.

FULL MOON
(An Acrostic)

Flowering in the dark blue sky
Up there with the stars on high,
Let your light beam on us all
Lest we stumble and we fall.
*
Magnificent, against the blue;
Overhead, yet near us too.
Only the sun gives greater light;
Night without you would not be bright.
