A Bite Ago!

MAGPIE TALES
chose the illustration.

A BITE AGO!

Do you recall a bite ago,
Before the devastating blow,
Before that dreadful realisation
That we had ruined all Creation?
Remember how soft breezes blew,
And everything was fresh and new,
And how all creatures great and small
Would meekly answer to our call?
Do you recall how days were sweet,
And our relationship complete?
I'd smile, you'd smile, soft words were spoken;
I'd give you daisies as a token.
Nothing ventured, nothing planned;
Though, sometimes, I would touch your hand.
It had been like that since time began.
What was Woman? What was Man?
Every day was just the same
As we wandered, naked, without shame.
And then you picked! And then you bit!
Oh dear! That was the end of it!

Lor Lummy! Eve! What have you done!
Come on, gal! Let's have some fun!

WORLD ECONOMY
(An Acrostic)

'Which way, what way, why and how?'
Our questions in the here and now.
Recently, not long ago,
Lots of us were flush with dough.
Dabbling in stocks and shares
*
Everything caught us unawares!
Countries widely separated
Overnight became related.
Nothing could save us! We went under!
Overdrawn! It was no wonder.
Megabucks went down the drain.
You and I caught in the rain!

I liked them both....yes it was created perfect, why is man so flawed? I'm wondering lately if it is the nature of man, the way he is created. Perfect in this creation. And now it is man, who has decided he has an addiction he would like to cure? Change is difficult especially if it is the nature of the beast. Do you think you could change a tiger? Teach him to have manners?

this was very cute your last two lines being a perfect ending to set the rhythm of the poem. Mine was similar in its first man and women indications!

Wonderfully readable and suitably ponderable!

I love the idea of Adam and Eve just sitting around talking about memories.

Both well written, with just a reference to the beginnings of decision and free will.

And how our free will has effected this economy, hasn't it?
